Congratulations to Mrs. Milner, our SJV 4th grade teacher. Mrs. Milner applied for an opportunity to take part in a very special program sponsored by Flint Hills Resources. Selected schools would have the chance to have a Science Museum of Minnesota Outreach tour program at their school, and travel to St. Paul for a giant sleepover at the museum. Over 100 schools applied for only 17 slots. Our school was selected as a 2010 Flint Hills Resources Science Matters participant. On February 18th and 19th, SJV's 4th and 5th grade classes will attend the Outreach Tour & Camp. We are so blessed to have Mrs.Milner not only as a wonderful teacher at SJV, but a teacher who acts as a mentor, and outstanding role model to all of us. Mrs. Milner sees the most in our students. She helps our students see the value in themselves, and if they can be made aware of this perhaps for the rest of their lives they will be unwilling to settle for less.

Sainted / The students, families and staff of St. John Vianney School in South St. Paul. They held a fundraiser for Haiti earthquake relief during the week of Jan. 18-22.
Each day, the students, who usually are in uniforms, and staff, wore a specific color and paid a dollar for the privilege. It was wonderful to see everybody in a common color each day, showing solidarity with the people of Haiti and one another. Students from preschool through 6th grade participated.
By the end of the week, they had raised $420. This money will be donated to Catholic Relief Services to help the people of Haiti. Thank you, St. John Vianney, for your generosity.

St. John Vianney School, rich in Catholic culture and history, seeks to meet the spiritual, intellectual, social and emotional needs of children, within a Christ-centered community. We are a faith community strengthened by our love for one another and our belief in the Gospel message. Spiritual growth is promoted through daily prayer, community liturgy, and the individual examples of our faculty, parents, and students who spead the message of Jesus through word, deed, and service.

We are committed to academic excellence. We strive for daily mastery of skills, successful patterns of sequential learning, and creative cultural experiences, which result in high cultural literacy for our children. It is our role to develop Christian citizens who can effectively and constructively contribute in our ever-changing democratic society. Through positive experiences, we believe that all children can learn, can maximize their potential, and can develop positive self-esteem.

St. John Vianney School believes that there is no place for violence, racism, or discrimination in a school built on Gospel values. We promote peace and social justice through education and the personal example of faculty, parents, and students.
